You have always dreamed of becoming a community speaker?
Are you more confident in deploying and designing VMware or Citrix solutions on Azure?
Do you want to present your community project which might be valuable for the EUC space?

Than, the AVD TechFest might be the right place for you! We are always searching for passionate community speakers that love to share their content around Desktops, which are provisioned on Microsoft Azure. For the first time in the young history of the TechFest, we are actively searching for VMware and Citrix content as well, to get a more diverse audience and to help you get the most out of this event by highly technical sessions that help you implement those workloads on Azure.

With this blog we want to give you some information and answer some common questions we receive around submitting a session for AVD Tech Fest.

Do you also allow new speakers to speak?

Our goal is to give everyone a chance that want to share knowledge with the community to speak, however we don’t do a distinction or have preferences for well established EUC heroes or those who want to become one! Whenever you have the feeling that you have something exciting to share, feel free to reach out to us and we are more than happy to help with a personal presentation and speaker training to help you become a great community speaker!

Johan Vanneuville

Azure Hero and AVD Tech Fest speaker

One of our youngest community speakers is Johan Vanneuville. He is currently leading the Belgium Azure Virtual Desktop User Group and is writing weekly newsletters and blog posts around AVD and value adding partner products.

Johan reached out to us and asked for support on his session in preparation of the AVD TechFest. Prior to speaking at AVD Tech Fest, he practiced a lot while speaking at other event opportunities.

He frequently asked for feedback and improved a lot. As a result he was successfully delivering a great session at AVD Tech Fest – Winter Edition while showcasing the “Getting Started” feature of Azure Virtual Desktop.

Please find Johan’s profile attached to the left and reach out to him about the experience of being a speaker.

How to submit a session for AVD Tech Fest?

Simon and I are always aiming for the easiest way of onboarding speakers to the event. The solution that has been the best option for AVD Tech Fest is to use Sessionize as our platform for speaker interaction and session submission.

If you have any exciting topic to talk about don’t hesitate to connect to our page here: https://sessionize.com/avd-tech-fest-2022/ and submit your session today!

Once submitted, we will get back to you as soon as possible with some feedback on the session if you have been accepted for the Tech Fest, or getting a chance to speak at one of our user group like events that we’re going to organize in between the events.

What should I consider prior to submitting a session?

One thing that will help you to reserve your spot is to be passionate about EUC products in the Azure cloud space! Before you submit your session, please ensure that the content is somehow related to Azure hosted virtual desktops, regardless if you’re using VMware or Citrix or any other technology for your brokering and Desktop management. In addition, try to give your session a great name that excites the audience to attend your session!

Please try to avoid to submit sessions that the community has seen before, we are searching for exclusive technical content.
In terms of content, we are asking our speakers to be as technical as possible – regardless if you want to present Best Practices, Customer reference stories or technical hands on demos, we only want to make sure that your session is free from marketing or any other sales opportunities.

Other than that, you are free to submit your session and we’re already looking forward to your application!

I have questions, how can I get in touch with you?

If you want to know more about the AVD Tech Fest from the speaker perspective and what we offer to you as our speaker, feel free to reach out to us, or contact Patrick or Simon directly via Twitter or LinkedIn and we are more than happy to take some time!
